Meet Lou Lachicotte & Paul Game: The Lachicotte Company

"Our company values a relationship based culture and business model of outstanding service," says Lou Lachicotte, president of The Lachicotte Company in South Carolina. Lou, along with business partner Paul Game who runs the company's Myrtle Beach office, strives "to get to know our clients on a personal level and help them achieve their goals; if clients are happy with their transactions, they will be very likely to refer their friends and colleagues to us."

"We strive to be the best of breed for a boutique style real estate company," adds Paul. "We are deeply committed to the neighborhoods and communities served. Each of the two offices functions as a neighborhood "boutique" style office, with its own manager/broker directing operations and a group of local agents who live in, work in, and know our communities."

Tell us how technology, social media and online marketing has changed/impacted your business

PAUL: Our approach is very eye catching, very engaging and unique. Technology has enabled us to reach out further and target a larger but more specific audience.  Utilizing social media outlets have enabled us to begin the process of making a personal connection between our clients and agents, and then we strive to transform that initial personal connection into long-term personal and professional relationships.

LOU: The fast pace of today's technology has made our society more impatient. Technology is ever changing so we have to be adaptable and proficient in all methods of contact. Fortunately, we have recent college grads with marketing degrees handling much of the daily updates for social media, as well as monitoring our SEO on a regular basis for our website. Marketing is such a critical component and we have to always stay up on the latest trends.

What do you love most about the area you live and work in?

LOU:  Pawleys is unique and very special. It is a small area geographically, bordered on the west by the Intracoastal Waterway, which on our Southern end of the beach is much wider than "the ditch" it is in Myrtle Beach. To our east is the beautiful Atlantic Ocean with miles of soft, sandy beaches. Just south of Pawleys is the historic seaport town of Georgetown, SC, a wonderful place for people who love the outdoors. One will find countless opportunities to go boating or paddle boarding on the rivers or in the salt creeks, splash in the ocean, go hunting in the fields, go back in time touring historic plantation homes, explore the beauty of Brookgreen Gardens and its small boutiques and specialty shops and great restaurants. Most people who live in Pawleys came here from other locations. Many of those are people who vacationed in Pawleys over the years have decided to either buy a second home or relocate permanently.

PAUL: The Myrtle Beach/Grand Strand area is an awesome place to work and live in as we have a huge variety of things to do from beaches, golf, shopping, shows, nightlife, etc.  What I like most about the area as far as working in real estate is the diversity of the properties we have for buyers and sellers ranging from ocean front homes, plantations, golf course, Intracoastal Waterway, condos, etc.

How do you think your colleagues in the business would describe you?

LOU: It depends on the day (just kidding). For the most part, I would think they would say I am honest and ethical, professional, detail oriented, a problem solver / mediator, and when I am not stressed out, a fun loving person.

PAUL: I asked several of the agents in the office this question and the feedback I got was: knowledgeable, accommodating, great with clients, professional, always accessible and there to help, a great BIC/manager, very honest & trustworthy, a great guy.

Tell us three things we didn't know about you!

PAUL: I was a real estate investor before becoming a licensed agent; I am licensed in NC & SC; I drive a Ford pick up truck.

LOU: I am a creek rat! I like to fish for flounder in Pawleys Creek, and I know how to clean the fish I have caught. I also know how to catch a blue crab on a line and how to clean them too. My grandparents founded the "Original Pawleys Island Rope Hammock" in the 1930's and the best nap you will ever have is when you nap in a hammock on a beach side or creek side porch with the salt in the air and the sound of the waves lulling you to sleep. This is one of my favorite things that I rarely seem to do lately. I think I feel a nap coming on the next warm sunny weekend I am home in Pawleys Island. When I was a kid, I loved to draw house plans and thought I would like to be an architect when I grew up. I love real estate sales so much because I have always loved houses. I have been very blessed to meet and become friends with so many wonderful people through the years in this business.
