We wanted to have a brand that represented our values. One that was focused on how we would want to be treated as a customer and as an agent. We wanted to bring together a fun, collaborative, professional group of agents that get results by working hard, and doing it right. We are very committed to providing excellent customer service and to prove it we don’t have any sales awards, we only recognize exceptional customer service, leadership and community involvement. 

Sheldon Johnston: Early in my career I was motivated by numbers; every year I chased awards and achieved my goals, becoming one of the top producing agents in Canada. When I realized that my past clients weren’t coming back to me, I also realized that I needed to shift my focus; just because my numbers said I was awesome, didn’t mean that I was. From that point on my focus has been on my clients, and we only select agents to work at Liv that put their clients first.

Sara MacLennan: After five years at the Canadian head office for Coldwell Banker, showing agents and brokers how to use the power of the internet to grow their businesses, I decided to take my skills to the street and found my true calling running the brokerage with Sheldon. At Liv Real Estate, I focus on marketing (although I'm licensed to sell real estate) and business development for our brokerage. Today our small brokerage has some of the most visited real estate web sites in Edmonton, getting over 225,000 sessions and 3.5 million page views/month! It was the scariest and best decision I ever made.

Online marketing is the core of our success. Our dominant position in search engine results has levelled the playing field between us and the big guys. Through inbound marketing we reach buyers and sellers when they are actually thinking about buying or selling a home. Being found is a huge asset to us in driving business to our agents and it allows us the pick of the best agents that fit our values.

Edmonton is an amazing city; there is so much going on here. Our incredible River Valley, which runs right through the city, is the largest urban park in North America (22 times bigger than Central Park in New York). We love hitting the trails in the River Valley on our mountain bikes – there’s over 1300 km of trails in Edmonton so you never run out of places to ride. Edmonton is big on festivals, we have about 300 every year including the largest and oldest “Fringe Festival” in North America, and an amazing Folk Festival held in the river valley with our city skyline as a backdrop. And then of course there is the “Ice District” a new downtown 25 acre sports and entertainment development centred around a new hockey arena (yes, hockey is a VERY big deal here).
